Well after several years of catching up on our other interests such as boating and travel we decided to build a Talbo for ourselves. We chose to paint it a very pretty blue, Atlantic Blue Pearl. The leather is a combination of cinnamon colored suede with blue crocodile accents. The dash is burl chestnut with mahogany trim surrounds. We finished it and by summer had a trip planned. We would travel to the mountains in North Carolina and visit some friends, then to Johnstown Pennsylvania to see my favorite uncle and aunt and cousins. Then up to Clayton New York and the Vintage Race-Boat Weekend event. We then drove up into Canada, where we researched a wooden boat that we are restoring that was made in the Muskoka Lake region of Ontario. This area of Gravenhurst, Bala, and Port Carling is quite beautiful. Then through the Adirondacks to Vermont to visit my sister, on to New Hampshire and old friends. There at Lake Winnipesaukeee we went to breakfast in their 1920’s Race-boat that has a roaring Curtis V -12 engine, a thrill of a lifetime. Then to friends in upper Maine where we ate dinner in a small restaurant downstairs from Shaw’s bunkhouse where I had slept in many years ago prior to a hike on the Appalachian Trail on the way to Mount Katahdin. We also enjoyed an imprompteau country music session at the Monson Hardware & General store. Be sure to see it if you are in the neighborhood on a Friday night. We kayaked on a pond in upper Maine, and had tea with friends in Montauk Point New York. We attended the fall Vintage Auto Festival at Lime Rock Park in Connecticut where even Skip Barber was excited to see the Talbo.
On the trip we visited friends and family and had many, many happy times and now great memories. It was super special driving the Talbo and seeing how many people enjoyed seeing this rolling sculpture. It was a very enjoyable five week, 6000+ mile trip in our new Talbo, Series 2. We want to share some photos that we took along the way with you.
